Dr. Carol Ross

Owner/Veterinarian

Carol was raised on a farm near the small town of Arrowwood, AB. Growing up she loved to help with all aspects of the farm from chasing cows to fixing the combine. She was active in 4-H Beef, softball, basketball and dance.

Carol is passionate and skilled in helping to restore her patient’s mobility through surgery; whether a fracture repair or stifle surgery she wants her patients to enjoy being active as much as she does. She also enjoys veterinary dentistry and giving pet’s a pain free mouth. She is our designated clinic dentist and travels between or Estevan and Weyburn locations performing dental surgery three days a week.

Always found nearby is her sidekick “Marley”, an energetic and somewhat naughty Corgi/ Heeler. When not at the clinic she can be found cheering on her kids Jaycee, Hugh and Sydney at the pool, rink or dance studio. When summer is in full bloom you will find Carol with her paddle board strapped to her car roof. Perfectly calm water calls to her and she is never too busy to enjoy a tour on the lake from her board.

Carol can be found leaving notes of encouragement for her team and has true admiration for them and their superhuman abilities to care for her patients like Wayne Gretzky handles a puck.

Dr. Jeremy Ross

Owner/Veterinarian

Jeremy knew he wanted to be a veterinarian since he was a child. Growing up on a ranch near Estevan he was interested in science and biology. He loved medicine and animals but couldn’t stand the thought of being a human doctor.

Jeremy keeps three goals in mind when helping every patient; to understand the client’s needs, to do his best for the animal’s sake and to keep him and his team safe.

He shares his love of life with his three kids Jaycee, Sydney and Hugh. Brightening his days are his pets Jewel, a cowboy corgi, his cat JJ and his six horses that he spends more time with than any human in his life.

Dr. Karly Lanz

Associate Veterinarian

Growing up on an acreage by Qu’Appelle, SK, Karly has rode horses from the young age of three, and enjoyed the cats, dogs, and roping cattle that she had the opportunity to grow up with. Her childhood consisted of lots of riding horses and rodeo – barrel racing and team roping – playing ice hockey and ringette competitively, and hunting and fishing. Pursuing her life-long passion of wanting to become an ‘animal doctor’, she did three years of a 4-year Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Regina, before getting accepted into the veterinarian program at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon.

Since graduating vet school in May 2009, Karly has been in mixed private practice and proudly joined us as an associate veterinarian at Prairie Animal Health Centre in Estevan in December 2013. She enjoys the variety of small animal, equine and bovine medicine that mixed practice offers. Karly is also a certified veterinary acupuncturist and is certified in veterinary herbal medicine. She is continuously practicing integrative veterinary medicine, where she offers western and alternative options for her patients. Karly approaches each case individually – every patient has their own unique way of showing clinical signs, their own willingness to allow her to work with them, and their own response to treatments. She tries to be as in-tune with each patient as she can and address their needs case by case, day by day. It is a priority for Dr. Lanz to provide confident, compassionate care to her patients and clients.

When not at work, Karly enjoys getting out to the farm, travelling, camping, hunting, fishing, and time with family and friends.

Dr. Greg Douglas

Owner/Veterinarian

Greg comes to PAHC from Ontario where he worked most recently in industry, government and clinical practice. He graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. His interests include surgery, emergency management and animal welfare. Greg enjoys working with all animals and welcomes the opportunity to get to know all the clients of PAHC, both human and animal.

Greg’s background includes an externship at the Animal Medical Center in New York, critical care medicine in Hawaii and numerous locums throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta.

While in government, Greg amended the Saskatchewan Animal Protection Act, implemented the Ontario Animal Health Act and chased disease outbreaks from coast to coast. Within industry, Greg developed and put into action the animal care strategy for Maple Leaf Foods.

Greg is thrilled to return to his hometown, Weyburn. It was a great place to grow up and the people are the best.

Kristin Caldwell

RVT and Chief of Veterinary Operations

Kristin wanted to become a veterinary technologist after caring for her own dog as a child. She spent many summers on a family farm and knew that she wanted to continue to care for animals as a career.

Her goal with every patient visit is to share her knowledge with the pet or livestock owner. Our jobs are filled with a wealth of information and she enjoys teaching it to new staff, students and clients.

Kristin shares her life with her husband and four children. They keep busy on their ranch of commercial and purebred Charolais cattle. They have three dogs Jess, Jed and Dibbles and three cats George, Pumpkin and Crush.

Kristin lives and works by the philosophy You need to make time for the important things in life.

She then practiced in rural Alberta for 4 years as a RVT before coming back to her roots in 2014. Courtney Walter

Bsc, RVT

Courtney grew up on a farm north of Calgary where they raised meat turkeys and had a small herd of 40 cows, which is where her passion for animals began! She went to the University of Saskatchewan and completed a Bachelor’s of Agriculture with a major in Animal Science and then attended Olds College for her RVT diploma.

Courtney now lives on a mixed farm (700 cows and 13000 acres of grain) east of Lampman with her husband, Allan. They spend most of their time farming but when they do get to enjoy time away they love taking Pepper (their border collie x heeler) and going camping, spending time outside as well as hunting and fishing.

Shaunacee McKay

RVT

Shauncee grew up in Estevan and always had a childhood dream of wanting to save all the animals. Her goal with each patient’s visit is to give her undivided attention and provide the best quality care.

Shaunacee has many mantras to live by but some of her favorites are”

“Visualize your highest self, then start showing up as her”

“Don’t puff up, don’t shrink down, show up and let yourself be seen”.
