COVID-19 Updates

June 10/2020:

To our valued clients,

Prairie Animal Health Centre remains committed to the health of our patients, clients, and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the introduction of new phases from our government, we are taking recommendations from Health Canada seriously. We consider veterinary services essential and want to ensure that we are able to continue to provide high quality care to the best of our ability.

To protect our staff and other clients we ask that all clients who have travelled internationally in the past 14 days, have cold/flu like symptoms or that have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 to reschedule their elective procedures (e.g. vaccination appointments, spays and neuters).  For sick pets needing medical appointments we ask that you have someone else attend the appointment or arrange for a drop off appointment.  For clients requesting home visits and farm calls you need to declare if you are in self-isolation.

Appointments: All clients coming for appointments are asked to wait with their pet in the car and notify us of their arrival via text or phone call- please include your name, your pet's name, your vehicle color and vehicle model. If you wish to continue with curb side service, a staff member will come out to your vehicle and get your pet; we ask you remain on site till we notify you pet’s appointment is completed.
If you wish to come into the appointment with your pet, we will let you know when the room is ready and we ask that you bring a mask to wear and hand sanitize on the way into the building. We ask that you wear a mask in appointments as we cannot maintain social distancing as recommended by Health Canada within our exam rooms.

Surgeries and Dentals: We will no longer being doing in person surgical pre-anesthesia paperwork.  You can fill out the forms here on our website or choose to do it over the phone.

Retail: To help our clients practice social distancing, please note:  we do take refill orders for both pet food and prescriptions over the phone, via our Pet Desk App, or here on our website. You can also pre-pay over the phone.  Using our Pet Desk App, you will get updates the moment your order is ready for pick up, and can specify payment preference.

Right now, the risks to our pet’s health is truly unknown. Our pet’s ability to be carriers and transmit to virus isn’t fully known yet, although the World Health Organization suspects it is low.
