Meet Our Team

  • Kristin Caldwell
RVT and Chief of Veterinary Operations

Kristin wanted to become a veterinary technologist after caring for her own dog as a child.  She spent many summers on a family farm and knew that she wanted to continue to care for animals as a career.

Her goal with every patient visit is to share her knowledge with the pet or livestock owner. Our jobs are filled with a wealth of information and she enjoys teaching it to new staff, students and clients.

Kristin shares her life with her husband and four children. They keep busy on their ranch of commercial and purebred Charolais cattle. They have three dogs Jess, Jed and Dibbles and three cats George, Pumpkin and Crush.

Kristin lives and works by the philosophy You need to make time for the important things in life.

  • Sarah Betnar
    RVT and Practice Manager

Sarah was raised on a commercial beef farm just outside of Estevan, where her extensive animal experience began.

In 2008 she made the move out to Alberta where she received her diploma in Animal Health Technology from Olds College. She then practiced in rural Alberta for 4 years as a RVT before coming back to her roots in 2014. Sarah joined Prairie Animal Health Centre that fall and has made this her home with her husband, Daniel, and their cockapoo Ted!

Sarah is the happiest when she can be outside in the sunshine and is often found paddleboarding the Souris with Ted leading the way.

  • Courtney Walter
    Bsc, RVT

Courtney grew up on a farm north of Calgary where they raised meat turkeys and had a small herd of 40 cows, which is where her passion for animals began! She went to the University of Saskatchewan and completed a Bachelor's of Agriculture with a major in Animal Science and then attended Olds College for her RVT diploma.

Courtney now lives on a mixed farm (700 cows and 13000 acres of grain) east of Lampman with her husband, Allan. They spend most of their time farming but when they do get to enjoy time away they love taking Pepper (their border collie x heeler) and going camping, spending time outside as well as hunting and fishing.

  • Dawn MacKenzie
    Veterinary Assistant

Dawn is from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and has lived in Estevan with her fiancé Eddie and 2 daughters Kimberlyn and Elissa since 2007.

Dawn has loved animals all her life and had lots of pets along the way which led to her growing up always wanting to work with animals.

Dawn loves her job at PAHC and is the energy that sparks a room! She loves all the women she works with and isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty!

When not at work, Dawn loves being outside doing yard work and caring for her family.

  • Megan Peterson
    Veterinary Assistant

Megan is from St. Walburg, SK and moved to Estevan in 2020. Growing up on a farm, she was always surrounded by animals. She had a wide variety of pets and loved them all!

Megan always had a niche for taking in animals that needed saving and finding them good homes- one in particular was a dog she rescued that grew up to be a certified service dog!

She has always wanted to help animals and do something good for them no matter how small the gesture was. Which is how she ended up deciding to start a path into veterinary medicine and she couldn’t be happier.

  • Marci LeBlanc
    Customer Care Coordinator

Marci grew up on a grain farm outside of Estevan and graduated from high school in 2020. She decided to take a year off of school and joined the PAHC team to get more experience with the veterinary industry.

She got lots of experience with animals on the farm- from trick riding on her horse Royal at rodeos to spending her time with her dogs Ollie, Benny, and Doug and her cat Hailey- she is no stranger to animals and their needs.

Marci is our friendly face greeting you when you come to visit us at the clinic and we will miss her when she heads off to join the Lakeland College student body this coming fall.
